Kent Wildlife Project 2025

This year, we are very excited to announce that we are working closely with Kent Wildlife to improve our school even further. We will be entering the Wilder Kent Awards and hope to achieve an award for all our hard work. The School Council are working closely with Eco-club and Mr Edwards (our forest school leader to change as much as possible for the better).

To create an action plan, we thought about what we already did, what we could do now and what will do in the future to become even more aware.

Things we already do:

  • Regularly attend Forest School,
  • Have lessons outside involving nature and wildlife,
  • Have wild areas on the field,
  • Grow fruit and Vegetables
  • Have a bug hotel
  • Have a pond habitat on site that we visit
  • Have an effective eco-club
  • Recycle old furniture/resources for further purpose
  • Have bird boxes and complete the Big bird Watch every year

Things we have done recently:

  • Created our action plan - what's next!
  • Change our litter policy - recycling is at the heart of everything we do. Help us in school to adhere to our policy. Please avoid sending single-use plastic into school.
  • Put up more bird boxes around the school
  • Create a separate area for wild-growing
  • Plant some wild flowers to have an area for wild protection
  • Have an assembly in school about the work of Kent Wildlife
  • Have lessons in the forest about ecology
  • Taken time to read in the forest for well-being and positivity
  • Set up water butts in garden areas
  • Had lessons about saving the bison and created a poster display for this
  • Completing weekly litter picks

Things we intend to do:

  • Do even more!
  • Complete Georgie's gentle garden - a place of sanctuary and well-being for us all
  • Raise awareness of local issues
  • Visit the Bison and support the work Kent Wildlife are doing here
  • Create a hedgehog sanctuary
  • Install and maintain bat boxes
  • Watch this space for all our ideas!
